In a Time

I have not felt the night air in a time,
I have not been reminded of
nights swinging solo under a single lamp,
willing myself not to jump,
not to let go,
not to plummet without control.
I have not felt the weight of that moons shine.
Or those stars that used to be mine,
the ones that whispered there was nothing else.
The ones that pushed me to push myself,
The ones which were almost the last to see.
I have not felt the night air in a time,
but tonight, I let in the chill, sharp and dark,
tonight I saw a solo swing in the rock.
The one that held me so close,
the one that left my fingers frozen
to a feeling that didn’t belong.
I have not felt the night air in a time,
but I have felt what is mine,
how the moon changes colour in season,
how the stars shine as they fall,
how the fireflies only glow in the black.
I have not felt the night air in a time,
but I have felt what is mine.
